General Tab Details

Details on the General Tab for Paging Service in the NTpage Administrator.

  • Paging Service - Enter a name to identify the paging service / paging company. (i.e. AT&T Wireless)

  • Phone Number - Enter the area code and phone number to dial to send an alphanumeric page. You get this number from your paging company. This number has lots of different names at the paging company. If you call you paging company to get this number and they don't know what you are asking for try one of these names. Alpha port TAP port Paging Terminal Note: If you call this number, it should sound like a fax connection, because it should be a modem answering.

  • Paging Protocol - Select the paging protocol you want to use. If you aren't sure which paging protocol to use, the use TAP. TAP is the most common, and you would know if you should be using TNPP.

  • Paging Terminal Password - Some paging companies have a special password that must be used when connecting and sending pages. If they have not told you about a password then leave the default which is 000000 (six zeros). Almost all paging companies DON'T use a password.

  • Wait for connection XXX seconds - This is how long NTpage waits after dialing the modem to get a reply from the paging company. Normally 60 seconds is long enough. If you have problems connecting to the paging company you may want to increase this parameter.

  • Accumulate XXX messages before dialing - NTpage can batch as many messages together as you want to make more efficient use of the modem and paging company. Using this parameter can also decrease any long distance calls, if you have to call long distance to connect to your paging company.

  • After XXX seconds dial anyway - When you set this parameter in conjunction with the parameter above it forces pages to go after a certain amount of time even if the number of messages to batch before dialing never happens.
